Scratched due to broken rudder string

Chris Baker reports:

The Mighty Men's 1st VIII, and their macons, took to the water ready to show the other colleges the effects of all the hard work put in at Molesey. After disregarding Nick's pre race instructions for the first minute, the boat settled to a leisurely 30, disappearing from LMBC2 and gaining ground on Pembroke. That is until grassy, where the shear force of the teams bulk caused the rudder wire to capitulate. After having a brief altercation with the bank, the men pulled over 6 lengths clear of LMBC2 by the finish.

After an inspirational team talk, it was decided to row back in sixes, with Nick showing us the less agricultural line through grassy. However, the men still managed to catch Girton(W2), finishing in an estimated total time of 22:50 (9:05 downstream [excluding pit stop], 13:45 upstream).

There is much more to come from this crew, and they will no doubt show this in the coming weeks; equipment permitting.
